The ship fitting course encompasses the repair and fabrication of pipelines, SMAW welding for both pipelines , structure and plates, gas cutting, lathe, brazing, mechanical works and safety awareness. The roles and responsibilities of a fitter aboard a vessel, as well as techniques for diagnosing and troubleshooting issues on sailing ships. Upon completion of the course, students will be provided with career guidance and support in obtaining seagoing documentation from the New Mark Technical Centre. This course is relevant for shipyards, dry docks and sailing vessels.
Duration: 16 Weeks
Pipe fitting is the manufacture of straight lengths of metallic pipe and piping components, which include wrought or forged elbows, tee and reducer fittings, forged flanges, and the pipe itself, to provide a simple or complex piping system to safely transportor process liquids, gases, and solids.
